We’ve been getting boners for zombies for years, but Bruce LaBruce just sealed the deal with his new flick OTTO; or, Up With Dead People. Get your tickets now for the screening Monday Oct 27th at MoMA.
Here’s what it’s all about:
A young zombie named Otto appears on a remote highway. He has no idea where he came from or where he is going. After hitching a ride to Berlin and nesting in an abandoned amusement park, he begins to explore the city. Soon he is discovered by underground filmmaker Medea Yarn, who begins to make a documentary about him with the support of her girlfriend, Hella Bent, and her brother Adolf, who operates the camera. Meanwhile, Medea is trying to finish “Up with Dead People,” the epic political-porno-zombie movie that she has been working on for years. She convinces its star, Fritz Fritze, to allow the vulnerable Otto to stay in his guest bedroom. When Otto discovers that there is a wallet in his back pocket that contains information about his past, before he was dead, he begins to remember a few details, including memories of his ex-boyfriend, Rudolf. He arranges to meet him at the schoolyard where they met, with devastating results

This image was posted in Mark Tusk on Spank! It is a photo of party goer Ian taken by Mark Tusk. We should also mention also that the images on the wall in this picture are photos taken by the magicly amazing Roberto De Luna, a frequent Spank contributer. More On Roberto De Luna here:

Our photographer buddy Mark Tusk has posted his pics from our last Spank zine release event. The photoshoot party. This event has already been documented a bit, but we always love to see Mark’s unique perspective. The link at the bottom of this post takes you to the whole photo set. Also check out Mark’s pics from other events around town. He documents NYC at night like no other.

This word association appeared in the highly-sought-after Issue #4 of Spank. The edition ran out so quickly that it’s now practically a collectors item. Justin and the Eccentric Circle performed at the release party. I seem to recall a very dirty version of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.”

Every once in a while a really solid house song gets adopted by cheerleaders and amateur dance enthusiasts across the nation. Green Velvet, we are so sorry it had to happen to you. Check the original video before you check the cheer-girls.

So last night Spank rocked the Korrupt party at Webster Hall. Apologies to any peeps that arrived early -our limo (no really the club sent a limo to get us) ran late so we didn’t get to the party till about 2:00 (that’s what we get for taking a limo I suppose). And while we were bummed that The Studio room that we were slated to perform in wasn’t completed (we hear Suzanne Barsch is launching her new weekly Thursday here in a month or so) the floor was jumpin regardless. Shouts to House of Stank and Shap for rolling with us, and Jen for the great party!

Download the original errr…. tag team (it sounds dirtier than it is) party mix for Spank by DJ Will and Seanb.

“Light, not “Lite’” bitches. Many know of him as long time NYC DJ (Salon at Flamingo East, Cock & Soul, Tubway) But Spank also wants you to know about his pasttime as a photographer: OBSERVE
