INVASION!!!

July 10, 2009

On July 4th all the inhabitants of Fire Island and their many guests crowd the Ferry port. They come not just to celebrate the 4th, but the Invasion of hundreds of Drag performers to the island. The ferry boat (no pun intended) that we all take to get to our getaway is jam packed with drag queens and kings, performers and celebutants all dolled up for the occasion. they descend on a red carpet to the crowd of hundreds. The Golden Girls, Will and Grace characters, ninja fan maidens, beautiful ladies (Justin), pearl dripping penis heads (Machine!) and everything in between.
It wasn’t really any one thing that grabbed me as much as the overall creativity involved and the reception of the crowd. It was surging, people we cheering, everyone was excited. It was one of the best times I’ve ever had, and will surely be back next year.

Pride Pix The Standard & MR West Afterparty

June 30, 2009

Wow, we’re still spinning from an epic weekend the Amfar Benefit with Interview Magazine and Mr. Patrick Duffy at The Standard hotel (the view of the fireworks =stunning). The after party was packed and the sound was bumpin! An extra SPANK YOU to MR WEST, which hosted our afterparty when APT had some sudden errr… trouble. The space was a perfect SPANK stomping ground with a great dance floor, sound and staff.

Special ONE NIGHT ONLY Performance JULY 2, 2009

We’re big fans of BIG Art Group, and it’s pretty rare that they perform in NYC, so don’t miss this night at the HOT Festival!
Big Art Group and musical collaborators (and Spank contributor) Justin Bond (Kiki & Herb/ Justin Bond Rites), Theo Kogan (Lunachicks), and Sean Pierce (Toilet Boys).

Big Art Group’s THE IMITATION (Concert Version)

Thursday, July 2 at 8:00 pm

Dixon Place Laboratory Theater 161 Chrystie Street,

New York, NY Tickets $15 in advance / $18 at the door ($12 students and seniors)

Buy Tickets Here https://www.ovationtix.com/trs/pe/7403985

The Imitation tells the story of Alice, a young “conceptual artist”
struggling to claw her way through a cutthroat art market, willing to
sacrifice anything to realize her dream. When her path intersects with
an unscrupulous financier, she betrays a dark secret to her ambition
that consumes both their fates. As the pair begins a frantic series of
attempts to regain control of their storyline, her secret corrodes
their schemes and pulls her and her accomplice into an upsurging
cthonic chaos.
Presented in this incarnation as a four channel video installation with
Big Art Group members Viva Ruiz, Ned Stresen-Reuter, Heather Litteer
and David Commander synchronized with the live concert musicians, The
Imitation is a performance fabricated from the detritus and trash of
New York City, repurposed and repackaged into a hallucinatory,
psychedelic, celebratory, and corrosive invocation. The Imitation
explores the dark temptation of the creative act.

June 14, 2009

Wow another cray fun night with Johnny Dynell and the Mr Black crew. And really summer must be here ’cause shirts were off and makeout sessions were happening all over the place. And who is that cute new british go-go fella? I know we were introduced.. but oh dear, we just can’t remember much from the end of the night, names included. Well you know how that goes!
